Great to catch up with Fa’afete Taito (Feetz) the other day to gift back his amazing story of recovery resilience and hope. Huge thanks to him for taking part in our research!
Fete is currently a Senior Engagement Advisor on the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care. The Inquiry is focused on historical abuse and neglect that has taken place in New Zealand, of children, young people and vulnerable adults in State or faith-based care. The inquiry wants to understand why people were taken in care, what abuse happened and why, and the impact it has had on survivors, their family and the community. One of Fete’s focuses is to encourage Māori and Pacific people to engage with the Inquiry so their voices can be heard. Fete also states that the disability sector is a priority and the ‘hard to reach’ communities like the LGBQTIA+, gangs, homeless, who are an integral part of his focus.
If you want to register your interest with the Inquiry you can phone the Contact centre on 0800 222 727. However, you are welcome to contact Fete (Feetz) Taito directly on 027 380 5681 or send him a text or email at Faafete.Taito@abuseincare.org.nz
